Doctors and Community Stand Together for Two Acute Care Hospitals 2015
Community Advocates for Hospitals and Health Care for Muskoka and Area (
We strongly believe it is critical to positively and effectively advocate in order to:
- fully and fairly represent community views,
- maintain essential and reasonable emergency travel times,
- service our growing and ageing population,
- be fiscally responsible and a vital economic driver for businesses in our region,
- preserve and build community partnerships,
- improve the provincial funding flaw for small and mid-size rural hospitals, and
- encourage community and financial support to our two hospital foundations.
Although our immediate/near-term focus is to advocate for maintaining and improving our 2 existing acute care sites, going forward we intend to be a positive, helpful ‘voice of and for the community’ and information source on the broader healthcare needs that exist. If you are interested to join or would like additional information, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us using the Contacts tab on the site.
Hospital Staff
Thank you to our over 600 MAHC staff including doctors, nurses, healthcare specialists, administrative and maintenance workers. Your diligence, perserverance, skills and compassion are evident on a daily basis.
Volunteers
We are so incredibly grateful to the over 300 volunteers that support our health care systems in the region. Your kindness and dedication has not gone unnoticed or unappreciated. We are humbled by your committment.
Hospital Foundations
The Huntsville Hospital Foundation and South Muskoka Hospital Foundation are the cornerstones of our local hospitals. Without your tenacity, persistence and enthusiasm, the updates and new equipment that benefit our community would not be possible.
