Doctors and Community Stand Together for Two Acute Care Hospitals 2015

Community Advocates for Hospitals and Health Care for Muskoka and Area (CAHHMA) is a representative association of Muskoka, SE Parry Sound community groups, individual residents and cottagers who are committed to maintaining and improving our emergency/acute care hospitals in Bracebridge and Huntsville as well as healthcare services in the District of Muskoka and adjoining areas.

We strongly believe it is critical to positively and effectively advocate in order to: 

  • fully and fairly represent community views,
  • maintain essential and reasonable emergency travel times,
  • service our growing and ageing population,
  • be fiscally responsible and a vital economic driver for businesses in our region,
  • preserve and build community partnerships,
  • improve the provincial funding flaw for small and mid-size rural hospitals, and
  • encourage community and financial support to our two hospital foundations.

Although our immediate/near-term focus is to advocate for maintaining and improving our 2 existing acute care sites, going forward we intend to be a positive, helpful  ‘voice of and for the community’ and information source on the broader healthcare needs that exist.  If you are interested to join or would like additional information, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us using the Contacts tab on the site.

Hospital Foundations

The Huntsville Hospital Foundation and South Muskoka Hospital Foundation are the cornerstones of our local hospitals.  Without your tenacity, persistence and enthusiasm, the updates and new equipment that benefit our community would not be possible.
